# What is Signature Design?

And Why Do you Need it?

**Signature Design** is a new *render-only* project type in Smilecloud that allows you to create before-and-after photo and video simulations and 3D review scenes from a single STL surface file.

To create a Signature Design project, simply prepare:

-   A **facial photo** of the patient
-   A **corresponding intraoral scan** 

And a **single surface STL file** from: 

-   A digital wax-up
-   A physical wax-up (scanned)
-   Any aesthetic setup exported as STL
